What is ICL Surgery?

An Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) is an artificial lens that can be permanently implanted in the eye. These lenses do not require any wearing or removal like conventional contact lenses. An ICL is inserted in front of the eye lens with the help of a surgical procedure, that allows them to refract the light on the retina, correcting the vision.
An ICL is also called an Implantable Contact Lens. The ICL eye surgery is done to modify and correct the eyes’ focusing power, thereby reducing or removing the need to wear eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Eye Problems ICL can treat…

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a common and curable curvature of the eye that produces blurry distant and close vision. It results when the cornea (the front surface of the eye), or the lens (within the eye) have uneven curves. It is usually corrected through surgery or corrective lenses.

Myopia

Myopia causes near objects to appear clear but far-distant objects to appear blurry. It develops when light rays incorrectly refract due to the shape of the eye. The retina is the layer on the back of the eye where light should be directed, but it is focused in front of the retina, in myopia.
